Home-training / Engaging different perspectives

Jacqueline Royster offers the concept of "home-training" as a way of "underscor[ing] the reality that point of view matters and that we must be trained to respect points of view other than our own" (When the First Voice You Hear is Not Your Own, 32). The two assignments below offer ways of cultivating students' "home-training" capacities, their ability to understand and engage critically and empathetically with perspectives different than their own.

Home-training as Research Methodology (ENGL110, General section, Nicolette Bragg)

Academic Synthesis-Acting it Out – Class activity (ENGL110, General section – in person and online versions, Brett Seekford)
